Where I rant and rave about all things tech

About Me

My name is Chris Holmes.  I am 27 years old and was born and raised in New York, where I still live today.  I have been interested in computers and technology for as long as I can remember, going all the way back to when I was 2 years old punching the keys on an Apple IIe.  Of course as time went on I went to the PC side of things and I have been there ever since.

What do you do?

Well, my current day job is that of an Automotive Electrician.  This pretty much involves anything electrical in a car, truck etc…  Everything from charging and starting systems, to wiring issues, to computer diagnostics.

When I am not at my day job I am a tinkerer and a tweaker who loves to play with bleeding edge hardware and software.  Many of you probably remember me from back in the day when I used to publish tweak guides with every build release of Longhorn/Windows Vista.  Truth be told I love seeing how stuff works, and how I can improve it and make the experience that much better.  That love has not died, I have tinkered with Windows 7 a lot, and now I am back working my magic on Windows 8.1, seeing what makes Microsoft’s newest creation tick.

What Kind of PC do you have?

Well which one are you referring to?  I have an entire network set up, between 2 domain controllers, my machine, my laptop, and everyone else in the house.  For this post though, I will only list my desktop and my laptop :).

Desktop (“Arcturus”):

  • ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
  • Intel Core i7 3930k Hexacore CPU @ 4.6 GHz
  • 32 GB GSkill Ripjaw DDR3-1600 RAM
  • 2x NVIDIA Geforce GTX580 Watercooled
  • 2x240GB Intel 530 RAID0 (boot drive)
  • 2 – 3 TB WD Blacks in RAID 0
  • Triple Radiator Watercooling loop with EK and HeatKiller Blocks

  • Lenovo W520
  • Core i7 2920QM Processor (Quad core 2.2 GHz)
  • 16GB DDR3 RAM
  • 240GB Corsair Force3 SSD
  • 1 TB WD Blue
  • 15.4″ 1920×1080 Display

What will you be posting here?

I will be posting a whole array of different things.  I will post any tips and tweaks I have, as well as some interesting news or findings I come across.  And hell, maybe I’ll even post about some bleeding edge Microsoft stuff for all you fans out there :).
