How to Remove Ads in newer versions of uTorrent
One of the new “features” in newer versions of uTorrent is the advertising within the UI. I wouldn’t exactly call this new as it’s been around for quite some time, but the part about it that not many people seem to know is that it CAN be turned off within the program. In this post I will explain how to do this to restore a non-intrusive and ad free uTorrent experience. Obviously for this you’ll need a copy of uTorrent with the new ad system in it, and an ability to read and understand directions. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
- First you will want to install uTorrent if you haven’t done so already. Make sure you say no to all of the toolbars and advertisement offers as these are mostly just bloatware and spyware.
- Open up uTorrent and navigate to Options –> Preferences
- Click Advanced in the left hand pane and search for the following values and set them to “false”
Once you have done that, click apply and exit out of the preferences, restart uTorrent and enjoy the fact that you now have no ads in the application.
I know this may not be a big deal to some of you, but it’s just one of those things that bugged me enough to “fix” and subsequently post about. I’ll be making it a habit to post about any little things I come across in the future, so keep checking back for new posts, they won’t just be about removing ads from things either, there will be something for everyone.
