Office 2010 Technical Preview has leaked
The technical preview of the much anticipated Office 2010 has finally hit the web in both the x86 and x64 flavors of the product. Office 2010 brings many improvements over Office 2007 and also introduces the ribbon to outlook which is a MUCH welcome change. I decided to install it and try it out quick, and I have to say, it feels very polished and the apps are VERY FAST on Windows 7 x64 (using the 64 bit office naturally). Below you can see a couple of screenshots I snapped quickly of word and outlook. I’ll post some more shots later as I play with it more.

Love this preview.. I’ve not run into any bugs yet.. seems very quick and stable. For people complaining about how it looks? Seriously.. it’s an office suite… it’s to be functional!

Thanks for posting the screenshots. I will be interested in trying it out, but after looking at the pix, I can’t help but wonder why Microsoft can’t seem to make a decent interface to their apps. The whole idea of the ribbon is cool, but they f’d it up from the get go.

I really like how they’ve extended (and faded) Aero Glass into the ribbon. It looks amazing!

How do I get this to connect to the office servers to download templates and preconfigured projects and such?? Also every time I open Word.. it runs some type of configuration… what gives??

Do you need a 64-bit PC to run Office 2010?

@Erwin: Office 2010 will be shipped in both 32-bit and 64-bit, so you can still use it on a PC using 32-bit Windows.
